Hello dear Members,

This is my first journal entry for the Group, so first of all: howdy to all :)

I wanted to do something that could help you a little with drawing wolves. So I will begin with something I am familiar with in drawing - the eyes. Many of you are suprised when, for example, their blue-eyed wolves are declined from "Realistic Wolves" folder, so maybe a few words about natural wolf eye's colours for a warm-up :)

Most popular colour is yellowish-green or greenish-yellow which can look differenty in various light's conditions. Great example of that colour is Chetan from WolfPark:

Take a look at wonderful Orca, he's eyes have also rather pale, but more yellow than green shade and come to life in bright light:

Marion-the-Barbarian, a truly beutiful lady with a bit less beautiful attitude, is also an example of yellowish eyes, in a bit more warm shade than Orca's but still not a honey-yellow, take a look:

Much more rare, but still natural colour is cold pale green with a hint of yellow overtone. Tristan and Erin are good examples for that:

but in a warm, afternoon light these eyes can also look quite warm:

There are two very distinct eye colours that usually come with a particular fur colour: one for black wolves and one for white ones.

Here's for the black wolves - rich, deep honey-goldish-yellow [my personal favourite ;)], amazing Kiri will show us how it looks. Even when his black fur begin to fade, his eyes remain the same. They lost their shape and shine only when he was very old and faded almost compleatly into white [Kiri died at the age of 19, so he was a really old wolf] :

Navarro had very alike amber eyes:

And for the end, white wolves often have dark-chestnut-brown eyes in very warm shade. But lot of white wolves also have the regular ones, like Chetan and Orca above. So here's Chani with hipnotyzing, warm stare:

All the photos I've used are done by great photographer Monty Sloan who works in Wolf Park, go ahead and visit their lovely webside: Wolf Park

Of coure apart from these eye's colour there are a few others - like white for old wolves that had lost their sight or blueish-grey for albinos [It's very hard to find a real albino photos. Mostly there are some white or faded wolves or dogs and wolf hybrids, hence the blue eyes.] So keep in mind that the chance of wolf having blue eyes are very, very slim. Also there's none natural colour of rich, dark green.

That's for some theory, hope you'll find it interesting :) And here's my tutorial, I'd love if you find it helpful :la:

If you have any questions or comments - I'll be happy to hear them and answer if I'll only can :) Hope you like the entry and nice day for everyone ;)

Nice post. Amusingly enough did you know that black came back into the wolf gene pool from dogs and was not there originally.
